The Virgin Nigeria name is to be replaced in a move that has been described as a ‘rebirth’ for the country’s national airline.
Virgin Atlantic owns a 49% stake in the airline, with Nigerian investors holding the rest. On 18 June, the airline will have a new chief executive, Dapo Olunmide, and its name will be changed by 7 July.Air Nigeria and Nigerian Eagle are among names under consideration. The airline is also considering merging with Arik, another Nigerian carrier.
